My name is Amanda and I write mental health books for kids. My goal is to teach children to self regulate, acknowledge their big feelings, and have fun doing it, even if those big feelings aren’t very pleasant.

My first book Nana and Me and the Tree is a gentle story about navigating grief and it’s stages while still recognizing the weight of it and remembering the positive memories we have shared.

The Calm down corner book that actually works.

The second book I published carried a very different tone. I based Stop and Read This Book on a technique I learned in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for anxiety. The second I learned this skill, I knew my own child needed it as much as I did, so I set to work trying to find a way to integrate this approach into a hands on, interactive book that is now available for every child in paperback, hardcover, and a Special Interactive Digital Edition.

My newest release, Snail is Slow, is a funny children’s story about mindfulness. In this dialogue driven story, the very busy (and important) Bee meets a very slow little guy named Snail. While he is quick to judge his sluggish new friend, he learns a thing or two from him about mindfulness and the importance of stopping to smell the flowers.

Mindful Mandalas Coloring Book
An all ages coloring book with unique designs to color.

In addition to my children’s books, I enjoy drawing digitally and have created a coloring book of mandalas to color for calming anxiety. Coloring is one of my very favorite ways to reflect and calm, so I wanted to create an all ages coloring book with unique and original mandala designs that others could color while reflecting.

I also have a few projects currently in the works including STOP 2, a new series about using positive language, and a middle grade fantasy series in it’s very early stages.
